Last month, our team exhibited at the SuperCorr Expo in Orlando, Florida. The event, which only happens every four years, is a big focus for us, providing significant exposure to manufacturers and end users of corrugated packaging machinery from around the world.
As usual, TAPPI and the AICC put on an outstanding show. We had visits to our booth from customers and packaging companies interested in seeing the PV3000 in action. We ran several corrugated and PE foam designs to demonstrate the speed and accuracy of the table. During the event, we designed a custom PE foam-lined mailer for a non-traditionally shaped wine bottle. This was a fun, interactive activity to showcase the PV3000’s flexibility to output a package design comprised of several types of materials.
Our experience at SuperCorr confirmed that our PV3000 provides a unique value proposition for packaging companies in the market for a digital cutter or CAD table. Many people who came through our booth were excited that we brought a static table. They could stand there and see it produce parts. We explained to them how it runs and even let some interested people run the table. Our approach showed them a product that they could wrap their arms around. A product that is the sole focus of our business.
In contrast, Kongsberg brought a large, complicated, expensive machine to SuperCorr. They are now privately equity-owned, and their owners seem focused on the high end of the market and competing with full-blown die cutters. Another competitor, Zund, didn’t exhibit at SuperCorr, but we had one of their European executives visit our booth. Like Kongsberg, Zund has a high-end product with a high-end price. Not participating in SuperCorr suggests that the US Packaging Market is not a high priority for them.
How Our PV3000 Digital Cutting Table Stacks Up Against the Competition
Our table’s design is straightforward, easy to use, and configured to make upgrading from a Data Technology Table seamless. Other features that garnered attention from those we met at the show include:
- Its Panasonic servo system is state of the art and produces .86 G dry haul acceleration, so it’s fast.
- Its helical rack and pinion drive system makes it the most accurate CAD table in its price class.
- It is flexible, easily moving between cutting prototypes, short-run production, and even printing and coating blankets.
- It’s versatile for cutting corrugated, PE foam, folding carton, coroplast, and printing blankets with its standard configuration and dozens of other materials with available optional knives.
- Finally, the table is made in the United States, making us a more sustainable solution than our European competitors. This is made possible by a partnership of Padrick & Vernon Equipment and Colex Finishing. Both companies are U.S.-based and multigenerational family-owned businesses.
Based on what we saw and heard from SuperCorr attendees, we’re more convinced than ever that our PV3000 large-format cutting machine is the right fit for many packaging companies. We look forward to gaining more traction in the market by providing packaging companies, specialty printers, and brands with a cost-effective solution to their package prototyping and short-run packaging production needs.
If you visited our booth, we thank you for stopping and we look forward to continuing our conversation in the weeks and months ahead.
